Abstract
Lignocellulosic waste biomass such as forest-origin residues, municipal wood waste and agricultural crop residues may be used as solid biofuel in non-densified form or densified form for thermal and thermochemical processes. The presentation will include a discussion of the relationship between biomass fuel quality and performance of an industrial gasifier as well as the techniques for the removal of ash and the inorganic constituents from biomass, both from the perspective of fuel quality improvement and management. The presentation will also include a brief discussion of the fate of biodegradable products during the bioconversion process of composting.
